Shepwrench/ 12 Angry Steps @ the Gold Dollar 07/14/2001

A great weekend of music that started on Friday night at the Magic Stick with the Porch Ghouls ended on a great note Saturday at the venerable Gold Dollar, which will soon be celebrating it's 5 year anniversary.

After Friday's night foray into the Magic Stick to see the Porch Ghouls I was looking forward to the Shepwrench/ 12 Angry Steps show.  This week's assignment was to see if I get any of my friends to come down to the Gold Dollar for their inaugural visit.   After a few emails and some phone calls it became obvious that the Gold Dollar only seems to be on the top of my priority list.  Nevertheless, after this failed experiment in social interaction - I just jumped into my truck and headed alone to the Gold Dollar.  Once again, I was not disappointed.

Shepwrench has quickly turned into one of my favorite bands.  They consistently put on one great show after another and deserve all the praise that I will continue to heap on them.  The 12 Angry Steps followed up this set with another top-notch performance of their own.  Seeing 5 guys on the tiny Gold Dollar stage seems a little claustrophobic, but their singer made up for this with his many jaunts into the audience.  The evening passed too quickly and I made my goodbyes to the fortunate few that were there and made that long trek home with the new White Stripes CD "White Blood Cells" blaring in my ears.

Speaking of which, if you haven't heard the new White Stripes - pick this CD up at all cost !!!!!!.    It's absolutely fabulous and shows that this band completely deserves all of the critical and popular acclaim that they have been receiving.
