Fluffy/D-Generation @ the Shelter

After raving about Fluffy's CD to all of my friends (both of them) I finally got a chance to see them in person. Once again, they were the opening band, but at least they're playing in Detroit, not all the way up in Pontiac at the pathetic new Clutch Cargo's, that has nothing to do with the original club in Detroit other than stealing their name. (much like minor-league cities across the USA (Denver & Phoenix) are stealing hockey teams from Canada). I show up at 7:00 for the 6:30 Door's Open show to see a handwritten sign that the band's van broke down & the show will be rescheduled for 10:30. That was a good sign - it showed that the band was doing a "real tour" & that that they were driving some cheap foreign-built van, instead of a solid Detroit vehicle. At 10:30 I'm back & Fluffy quickly appears. They're great - they're loud & fast, they drink beer & they don't engage in that mindless small talk between songs that drags the set out for another hour. In fact, they're done too quickly & there's a line forming already for autographs to the spacious Shelter dressing room. D-Generation has a hard act to follow, but they're also good & they give out free cassettes to the crowd. (Free beer would be better, but I'll take the cassette).
