Sirens, Ko & the Knockouts, Come Ons, Von Bondies @ the Magic Stick 01/25/2002

There is absolutely no reason for me to write a review of this show.  Just by looking at the bands that played there - YOU just know that it was a great show.  I've been running around town just trying to see these bands one or two at a time and here they were all neatly wrapped up in one ultimate package to help celebrate Tina's birthday.  And to top it off - it was free.  I felt guilty for seeing such an awesome show and not having to pay for it.  Well, anyway, for the one or two of you that weren't able to make it to the Magic Stick - here's a quick rundown on the festivities.

I came rushing down there by 10 in order to catch the Sirens, who luckily didn't start till 10:30.  I haven't seen them before, but now I know why everybody was telling me to get there early.  Do not miss this band !!!!  I don't want to repeat this for every band but it was true - they all sounded great and people were begging for encores pretty much the whole evening.  Each of the 4 bands could easily have been the headliner - they are all that good.

Ko & the Knockouts followed and just managed to whet my appetite even more for their soon to-be-released CD.  The Come Ons followed and kept the ridiculously great times just churning along.  They already have 2 CD's out, so at least I could play some of their music on the way home.  The evening was topped off by the Von Bondies.  By this time I was blubbering mess - how much better could this get?  Luckily, they also have a CD out, which should help carry me over to their next show.

Finally, I was just too spent to even say Good-Bye to too many people. I kind of snuck out to my car thinking that I must have done something illegal somewhere.  Who would  believe that I saw the Sirens, Ko & the Knockouts, the Come Ons and the Von Bondies all at one show - and it was free?
