Trash Brats @ Gibson's in Seattle

One of the best things about having to travel is a chance to check out some bands in other cities.  Last week I found myself in Seattle on a Saturday night with no car or clue of what to do.  Luckily, I found a copy of the local Metro Times - type paper and happened to see that Detroit's own Trash Brats were playing a place called Gibson's in downtown Seattle.

Having flown in a couple of hours earlier and only armed with a tourist map - I headed out in search of music.  Downtown Seattle seems too clean and yuppified - there is a Starbuck's on virtually every corner people actually seem to obey the "Don't Walk" signs.  Even the homeless people are polite and better-dressed than their counterparts in Detroit.  I was amazed to see that all of the signs begging for money were written neatly with correct punctuation.  I guess that there must be spell-checker and grammar check before you can start begging.

Eventually I found Gibson's just as the Trash Brats were starting their set.  The place was pretty cool and had this big picture window right in back of the stage.  The crowd was very good and supported our boys with great enthusiasm.  The Trash Brats even played a cover of "I Feel Alright" just in case somebody didn't know they were from Detroit.  After the show, I congratulated the boys on a great set and thanked them for saving a Saturday night when I was 2000 miles away from home.  I guess that you just can't get away from Detroit music - It's Everywhere !!!!!!!
